Designed by the architecture studio of ZARA, the renovated Bond Street flagship represents one of the most advanced expressions of the brand’s global concept. The project spans four floors and more than 3,000 m² of retail space, conceived to create a more open and fluid relationship between product, customer, and the urban environment.
The intervention involved a complete transformation of the building, introducing a fully glazed façade and open, continuous interior spaces.
The original façade was entirely removed and replaced by a new composition of large-scale glass panels, redefining the store’s presence within the city. Transparency, natural light, and visual continuity between interior and exterior become the defining architectural principles of the project.
To support the new façade, a bespoke structural system was developed and manufactured to accommodate glass panels exceeding eight metres in height and weighing up to three tonnes. This technical challenge required the integration of structural beams of up to twelve metres, ensuring load distribution and overall stability without compromising visual lightness.
Inside, the custom-made furniture for the self-checkout areas acts as a direct extension of the architectural concept, with thirty-three pieces specifically designed for the space and adapted to the different retail areas: Men, featuring stainless steel and Nero Zimbabwe countertops;
and Women, where Serena stone and poplar wood introduce a warmer, more tactile material expression.
One of the most distinctive elements of the project is the intervention on the staircases, clad in natural black iron sheet, executed with high precision and significantly reduced installation times.
The scope of works also includes composite ceiling systems, cladding, linings, installation supports, and bespoke structural elements designed to integrate technology and operational logistics within a clean, highly resolved architectural framework.
The combination of large-scale glazing, complex steel structures, bespoke construction solutions, and custom-made furniture transforms the building into a contemporary and efficient retail space, reflecting the architectural and commercial evolution of ZARA on one of Europe’s most important shopping streets.
