Located right in the heart of San Sebastián, on Fuenterrabía Street 3–5 and just a few meters from the cathedral, stands one of BERSHKA’s most emblematic and demanding openings.
Designed by El Departamento together with BERSHKA´s creative team and executed by KIMAK, this store merges the visual purity of Japanese architecture with the warmth and tradition of the Basque home, under the concept Uchi–Etxe.
From the early creative phases to its final completion, KIMAK played an active role in every stage of the project, contributing high-precision technical and construction solutions.
The renovation covers a total area of 600 m², distributed across two levels: the ground floor, dedicated to the Woman universe, and the basement, home to the Man space.
Every element of this tailor-made project was individually designed and manufactured. This complete customization posed a significant technical and logistical challenge: each module had to fit with millimetric precision, leaving no room for error. Coordination between the technical office, production, and assembly teams was essential to achieve an impeccable result within extremely tight deadlines.
A combination of veneered wood, satin-finish metals, acrylics, and MDF was used throughout, along with 3D-printed components and custom-developed metal structures. These materials, crafted through both manual and industrial processes, create a balance between craftsmanship and technology. Everything was integrated with carefully designed lighting and multiple sound
systems embedded in walls and ceilings, giving tangible form to the Bershka Music universe—one of the project’s core concepts.
Among the store’s most distinctive features are geometric recessed LED luminaires, Marshall-style speakers specially developed for the store and built into the furniture and walls, and a stacked-screen display unit entirely developed by KIMAK.
KIMAK also carried out all interior and exterior signage, wayfinding systems, and decorative elements such as vinyls, posters, covers, and records, as well as the supports for these pieces.
This BERSHKA store in San Sebastián stands as one of the most complex and demanding projects ever undertaken by KIMAK—both for the total customization of the furniture and the high precision and tight timelines required.
It reaffirms KIMAK’s commitment to quality, precision, and technical excellence in creating unique spaces for leading brands, while elevating Bershka’s image to a new level—blending design, technology, and craftsmanship in a unique environment that celebrates music and urban culture as part of the brand’s DNA.
